2017 Christmas Parade Float Winners Announced

2017 Christmas Parade Float Winners Announced

ANDERSON – IN – Mayor Thomas J. Broderick, Jr. is proud to announce the 2017 Christmas Parade Float Winners. This year’s judges were from The Christian Center, led by their Executive Director, Rob Spaulding.

Third Place went to the Anderson Young Ballet Theatre. The Anderson Young Ballet Theatre is Anderson’s only pre-professional ballet company and dance academy for local youth.  AYBT is housed at Main Street and Young Drive in the Historic Big Four Train Station. AYBT and Academy has had the pleasure of being an Anderson business and non-profit for over 45 years. On their float was the lead cast of Nutcracker. This year’s Nutcracker production will be on December 15th 16th and 17th at the Paramount Theater.

The second place winner went to Anderson Municipal Light and Power. Light and Power covered every inch of their bucket truck with sparkling lights, drawing squeals of delight from the children attending the parade.

The Judges’ choice for first place went to Community Hospital Anderson. Community Hospital Anderson celebrated the Christmas season with their float featuring the Christmas Vacation movie theme, keeping the parade attendees laughing at their antics as they drove their RV and station wagon through the parade route.

Mayor Broderick says, “This year’s parade was an enormous success with thousands of citizens not only enjoying the incredible floats, but meeting with Santa, his live reindeer and the Disney princesses; snowball fights and a polar bounce slide.”

Mayor Broderick wishes to thank our winners and all of our participants this year for their time and effort put forth in making this Christmas Celebration one for the books.

The Mayor and City of Anderson Christmas Celebration and Parade Planning Committee wish to thank the sponsors of this year’s event: Community Hospital Anderson, NTK Anderson, A1ForFun, Jam Printing, Artistic Invasion, Concentrix, Madison County Federal Credit Union, First Merchants Bank, Bridgenorth Homes, Riley and Sons, Inc., UAW Locals 662, 663, 957, and 1963, Fredericks, and McDonalds. A special thank you goes to Payless Supermarkets, Nestle, Prairie Farms and The Christian Center for providing and preparing the hot chocolate and cookies that parade attendees enjoyed.

The winners of the 2017 Independence Parade and the 2017 Christmas Parade will receive their trophies at a media event to be scheduled at City Hall in the near future.
