Contact the Department of City Engineering and Stormwater Management for concerns about stormwater drainage problems, acquiring drainage permits for new construction, and issues regarding connections to the City of Anderson sewer system. All general questions, concerns, and comments about the water quality of Anderson area streams, rivers, and lakes should also be directed to the Stormwater Management Department.
The Stormwater Management Department and the Water Pollution Control Department work closely together to address surface water quality concerns. If you observe any type of unusual characteristic (such as color, odor, oil sheen, or dying aquatic life) in a local waterway or any type of suspicious activity (such as an RV discharging to a manhole, dumping drums into a waterway, or a discharge from a pipe during dry weather) contact either the Stormwater Management Department or the Water Pollution Control Department immediately.
Sewer Maintenance Department

The Sewer Maintenance Department responds to all calls regarding sewer back-ups into homes, businesses, and streets caused by problems in the city sewer system. The Sewer Maintenance Department responds to emergency calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Sewer back-ups into homes caused by obstructions in a home lateral are the responsibility of the homeowner and in these cases a qualified plumber should be contacted.

The Water Pollution Control Department operates the Anderson wastewater treatment plant and regulates the wastewater discharges from all local industry. The Stormwater Management Department and the Water Pollution Control Department work closely together to address surface water quality concerns.
