The Spotlight

The Anderson City Spotlight is the newsletter of Mayor Kris Ockomon. Issued on the 1st and 15th of every month, the Anderson City Spotlight is the Mayor’s communication to our community.

ED Update

The Economic Development UPDATE Newsletter will be sent periodically by the City of Anderson, and will include the city’s Economic Development related news.

ED Access

The Economic Development ACCESS Newsletter will be sent periodically by the City of Anderson, and will include location, statistical data and other Economic Development-related news.

Landscaping

Help beautify the City of Anderson and indulge your love of gardening by helping plant flowers and care for planting beds throughout the City! Devote as much or as little time as you like, working under the supervision of the City’s Urban Beautification Manager!

Photographer

Use your artistic eye and own equipment to supplement the City’s stock photography for use on the internet and in publications! Capture the essence of our community and share your images with the world! Devote as much or as little time as you would like, or donate your best existing images

Green Team

Help plan and implement environmentally conscious programs throughout the City! Write a white paper on Anderson’s existing green initiatives, help gain green certifications for the City, research future green initiatives. Improve your City and save the world!

River Protection

Enjoy a leisurely walk and install “No Dumping; Drains to River” tags on drains and manhole covers throughout the City. These reminders protect water quality spread the important message of conservation along White River.

Neighborhood Walks

Join a team of walkers to go door to door in targeted neighborhoods Citywide to deliver information about the City and community organizations directly to the citizens. These walks will ultimately help underserved populations get connected with the community and fight crime and domestic violence through awareness.

Crime Watch

Add your eyes and ears and those of your neighbors to the fight against crime in your neighborhood. Work with the police department to make your streets safer and squeeze crime out of our City, block by block!

Animal Care

If you love animals, get involved with Anderson’s Animal Care and Control where you can provide day to day, hands on care to the animals housed at AC&C, foster an animal in need, raise funds, or help educate various audiences about responsible pet ownership.

Special Events

Help plan and execute special events going on year round throughout the City, from downtown festivals to Citywide clean up days. Choose those events which interest you, or join a general interest volunteer bank and help with events on an as needed basis.

Clerical Assistance

Help plan and implement environmentally conscious programs throughout the City! Write a white paper on Anderson’s existing green initiatives, help gain green certifications for the City, research future green initiatives. Improve your City and save the world!

Goodwill Ambassador

Spread the positive attributes of life in Anderson by word of mouth to your friends and associates throughout the region, the state, the country, and the world! Receive periodic ‘talking points’ about the community and promote the community you care about in your daily conversations!

Community Projects

Use your skills in business or community organizing to organize one or a variety of community projects under the direction of Community Development staff. Examples: money management workshop, foreclosure prevention workshop, development of earned income tax credit workshop, and other creative, helpful programming!

Translation

If you are fluent in a foreign language, your translation skills can be put to use to create alternate language economic development marketing materials as well as those times when the City hosts visitors from other countries, including Sister Cities in Germany and China.
