Shoplifting Detail

The shoplifting detail was formed in the early 70's. Officers were assigned to assist merchants during the Christmas season. The detail produced numerous arrests and the recovery of thousands of dollars worth of retail merchandise. With such positive results, the Anderson Police Dept. decided to continue the program.

The Shoplifting Detail was formed to aid merchants in becoming less vulnerable to the professional shoplifter and refunder. It also aids loss prevention in recognizing the professional shoplifter and the methods they use to steal merchandise.

Currently the detail consists of one detective, Keith Copeland, who has been assigned to Shoplifting for 26 years. He may be contacted at (765) 648-6758.
