Urban Forestry Efforts

"Right Tree, Right Place"

The Parks Department will be working closely with Light & Power and Street Departments to improve the general health of the urban forest. Efforts will be made to educate the public in planting the right tree for the right place as well as encouraging proper alternatives to topping.

'Memory Tree' Program

Citizens can purchase trees with markers to honor a person or an event (anniversary, wedding, birth, death).

Tree Topping is Bad for Your Trees!

Tree topping is the drastic removal, or cutting back, of large branches in mature trees, leaving large, open wounds causing disease and decay. Topping causes immediate injury to the tree and ultimately results in early failure or death of the tree.

Other names for this malpractice include stubbing, heading, shaping, tipping, hatracking, dehorning, or roundover. IN SHORT, TOPPING - BY ANY NAME IS THE WORST THING TO DO TO A TREE.

"Tree Services Must Be Licensed

Anderson city law requires all tree services to be licensed.
