Date Posted: 3/15/2010 Friend to Friend Energy Assistance Program needs your support Thank you for being a friend
 Friend to Friend. It's easy; it's direct; it makes a difference. Friend to Friend is a fund drive specifically to provide energy assistance to residents of Madison County. The City of Anderson effort to include flyers and envelopes in utility bills has consistently brought in thousands of additional dollars toward this need.
United Way of Madison County manages Friend to Friend as a separate fund. We receive donations throughout the year even though we promote the drive for just 4-6 weeks through the city partnership. The average gift to the drive is between $20 and $25, but last year those gifts amounted to nearly $9,000 for the cause.
With such high need this year, we hope to be able to reach more "friends" so that assistance can be expanded throughout the county and to more types of utility services. The Community Access Network partners are ready to work together to put the donations to good use - helping families feel the heat rather than shiver in the cold or suffer the consequences of unsafe heating sources.
