Permit Center

The Permit Center is one of four divisions making up the Department of Municipal Development

We encourage the construction industry to contact us with any questions relative to permitting or contractor licensure. Our staff engage in the best practices and methods to ensure all construction and demolition activity is regulated in an efficient and effective manner for the benefit and welfare of the City as a whole.

Our Services

• Issue permits for new construction trade installations (electrical, HVAC, plumbing), doors, windows, exterior or interior remodeling, demolitions, pool or spa installations, tank removal or installations, roofing, sprinkler systems, alarm installations, additions, decks, sheds, mobile home placements, foundations, garages, barns, equipment placement, utility service connections, and miscellaneous.
• Issuance of trade licenses to approved electrical, HVAC and plumbing contractors.
• Responsible for taking complaints about safety or code violations, hazardous trees, uninhabitable or derelict houses and buildings, and other building violations.
• Responsible for coordinating general inspection relative to complaints received and maintain an unsafe structure listing.
• Responsible for coordinating improvement inspections relative to permits issued. Also, responsible for coordinating final inspections that include City Engineer’s office and Fire Department.

Office Hours

Applications, inquiries, and complaints taken during Department hours from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays.  Permits issued between 8:00am to 4:00pm.
