The Fire Safety House is located on the third floor of the Anderson Public Library, 111 East 12th Street Anderson, In. 46016.

General Information

A tour of the Fire Safety House Learning center is designed to teach children fire safety. Let Captain Becky Bathauer and Patches lead your children through an interactive tour of, what to do if your house is burning, escape routes, stop drop and roll, and using the 911 telephone system in an emergency.

The Program

	Children are greeted by Patches as they arrive on the 3rd Floor.
	The tour begins with a short video and class on fire safety.
	Children are given practical experience with responding to smoke detectors and real (non-toxic) smoke.
	If younger children are in the tour simulated smoke is used to demonstrate crawling from a room.
	After the children exit the house they are given the opportunity to practice dialing 911 and talking to a emergency dispatcher.
	In the same area as the fire safety house is a small fire museum.

History

The fire safety house was built in 1993 by the Firefighters of Anderson and was funded by donations from the community and the fund raising efforts of the Anderson Board of Realtors.
