To Whom It May Concern:

As the year comes to an end, I have come to realize the importance of a support staff that is unwavering in it’s support of me and the brothers and sisters of our union (International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 1262). It has been a very productive year, as you will see in the pages that follow.

My main concern when the year started was that of safety. With the hard work of EMS Chief Mark Keck and Chief Instructor Gary Cochran, we have had extensive training which goes hand in hand with the safety of our firefighters.

The budget has been a new experience for me. Deputy Chief’s Jerry Burmeister and Dave Cravens have done an excellent job of maintaining our numbers, and thinking outside the box in order to accomplish the goals of our department.

Chief Investigator Jeff Freeman continues to keep the Arson Division running in the same professional manner as always. Chief Mechanic Rick Isom has done a great job in maintaining our fire trucks and ambulances. Captain of Inspections Steve Buck has improved the safety of our city by providing much needed fire and safety inspections of our businesses, new construction, and residences.  Maintenance Chief Bob Martindale continued his hard work in making sure our fire stations are in good shape and safe.

Our billing department, consisting of Leona Brown, Julie Craig, and Tracy Carmine have kept up the professionalism of their office. My secretaries, Janine McKinney and Kristie Binda, are always there to assist everyone in the office, and the men and women on our trucks and ambulances. Fire Safety House Captain Becky Bathauer continues to do an excellent job informing our children on the dangers of fire.

In closing, I want to thank all the firefighters for a brave and honorable year.

Respectfully,

David Clendenen, Chief
