05-02-2008 - New Company Plans to Bring 400 Jobs to Anderson
Mayor Kris Ockomon announced today the addition of a new business to Anderson’s local economy. The company, AGAPE, LLC, is a start up company that will immediately employ 75 people in the call center industry and intends to grow to 400 employees within one year. AGAPE has chosen to locate in downtown’s historic Union Building, a Sullivanesque, terra cotta building constructed in 1902.

04-10-2008 - Grant Fuels Growth for Power Generation Developer in Anderson
I Power Energy Systems LLC, a developer of environmentally friendly electric power generation equipment, announced today it is on path to create more than 100 new jobs following a 2006 award from Indiana's 21st Century Research and Technology Fund.

04-10-2008 - Anderson to Open New Small Business Development Center Office
The City of Anderson next week will open a sub-center of the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center. The sub-center will provide comprehensive, no cost counseling services to existing and prospective small business owners. The office will be located in the City Hall Building.

04-04-2008 - Altairnano expands at the Flagship Business Incubator
A high-tech company is expanding its presence at a business center in Anderson. Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. is now leasing 70,000 square feet at the Flagship Business Accelerator. Altair's Anderson operation started with eight employees in 2005 and has increased to around 40 with plans to hire more workers.

03-26-2008 - Flagship Tech Park to expand
The need for a dynamometer has prompted the Flagship Enterprise Center to request permission to construct a 1,000-square-foot addition to the east side of the building.

03-24-2008 - Rubicon moves into Flagship
A specialty food products company, Rubicon Foods LLC, has moved its headquarters into the Flagship Enterprise Center.

02-20-2008 - Anderson company pursuing $30 million lunar exploration prize
A local businessman has his eyes on the sky. Pete Bitar of Anderson-based Air Buoyant, announced that he had assembled a team to pursue the $30 million Lunar X Prize, sponsored by Google.

01-16-2008 - Flagship business gets $1 million state grant
Comfort Motion Technologies LLC has received $1.085 million in a grant from Indiana’s 21st Century Research and Technology Fund to further develop software aimed at improving driver safety and comfort, according to a news release. Comfort Motion is located in the Flagship Enterprise Center.

12-14-2007 - Delegation from China tours Anderson
A group of eight people from the Yuhang District in China toured Anderson on Friday. The delegates came to the city to strengthen a bond between Anderson and Hangzhou, the largest city in the district.

10-09-2007 - Flagship Enterprise Center (FEC) featured on the Inside Indiana Business
“Anderson’s Flagship Enterprise Center is an example of a technology park that has fulfilled its mission by incubating successful start-up businesses,” said State Senator Tim Lanane. “The center fosters the Hoosier entrepreneurial spirit in new high-tech industries.”
