March Executive Spotlight Seminar: Negotiation

Certified EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Training

IACED (Indiana Association for Community Economic Development), with assistance from IHCDA, is pleased to offer the Certified EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Training. As a result of this training, attendees will have the opportunity to become Certified Lead Renovators.  This eight-hour class was developed by the U.S. EPA and it is designed to train contractors who perform building renovations or repairs and painting. The course includes health concerns, regulations, work procedures, recordkeeping, and training non-certified workers.

The typical audience for this course includes renovators, remodelers, painters, maintenance personnel, and any other workers removing or modifying painted surfaces.

Registration Fee: $25 for IACED members, $50 for non-members (continental breakfast and lunch included)

The registration deadline for this training is Friday March 19; but REGISTER EARLY, it is expected to reach capacity much sooner than the registration deadline. Check-in is from 7:30 am to 8 am on the day of the training.

Indiana Companies to Watch Awards Program

Nominations are now being accepted for the third annual Indiana Companies to Watch awards program. The competition is designed to recognize privately held businesses that employ six to 150 full-time employees and have between $750,000 to $100 million in annual revenue or working capital. Winners of the awards will be recognized Aug. 26 during an awards dinner at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis. Indiana Companies to Watch is presented by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, its Small Business Development Centers and Purdue University in Association with the Edward Lowe Foundation.

SCORE Workshop (Every Monday in April 2010)

SCORE will be hosting a series of workshops at the Flagship Enterprise Center every Monday in the month of April. Led by SCORE counselors, Lyle Crouse, Bill Christman, Barb Alder, and Karl Grady sessions will begin with keys to starting a business followed by business vision and planning, marketing, financials, and business loans.

Indiana Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program

Lt. Governor Becky Skillman announced the availability of $4.5 million in competitive grants for energy efficiency upgrades. Indiana Small businesses, health care facilities, institutions of higher education and non profit agencies are all eligible to apply for the grants. The program will make grants up to $100,000 for any energy efficiency retrofit project available with a 50% local match. The grants are part of the Indiana Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program, which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus package that came to Indiana from the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE). It is administered by the Indiana Office of Energy Development (OED).

Application Period: Monday, March 1 – Friday, April 30, 2010

Grant awards will be announced the week of May 24th, 2010 pending review and approval of USDOE.
