What is an ordinance?
Literally an Ordinance is defined as a law set forth by a governmental authority, specifically, a municipal regulation. Ordinances are enacted by a city government through its Common Council.
What is the difference between a Resolution and an Ordinance? An ordinance is a formal action that is enforceable by law. A resolution is not necessarily a law. It is expressing the will or opinion of Common Council. If already a law, it can be enforced by a resolution.
