Anderson Indiana Main Street (AIMS) formed:

The formation of the AIMS Steering Committee was developed in Fall 2002. This steering committee will be responsible for the overall coordination of Anderson’s downtown. Responsibilities will encompass the basic 4-point approach from Indiana Main Street. The committee immediately began the process of applying for a 501c3 Not-for-Profit status. A mission statement was developed, articles of incorporation and bylaws were created, and goals and objectives were established. The steering committee will soon change from a simple “steering committee” to a legal committee.

The Promotions committee exploded with ideas when they first got together as a promotions steering committee in September 2003. They reviewed a list of activities submitted by the public, during the inception of the AIMS Steering Committee and chose a few activities to start in 2004! These will be posted to the web site as they are more defined. This group has been very involved in assisting with some of the existing activities downtown, which include the Cruis’N Anderson, Oktoberfest and Winterfest, as well as bring new and exciting activities and entertainment to our downtown. They have also played a major role in maintaining the overall image downtown including purchasing new winter banners and assisting with the new planter areas.
