Anderson Fire Department Hires New FirefightersANDERSON, IN - Mayor Thomas J. Broderick, Jr. and Chief David Cravens have announced the city will bewelcoming new firefighters to the Anderson Fire Department. After an in-depth application process, the citywill be hiring 9 new firefighters. These firefighters will appear before the Board of Public Safety and will besworn in on Monday, June 25th at 4:00 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium. The public is invited.These recruits will attend eight weeks of fire training at the academy held at Indiana District 6 TrainingFacility in Anderson. This extensive training will include search and rescue, HAZMAT instruction, vehicleextrication, EMS training and firefighting procedures and operations. Upon completion, the new firefighterswill have Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications and HAZMAT basic operation certifications.Mayor Broderick stated, “We are pleased to welcome this exceptional group of young and diverseindividuals who will be making a positive difference in our community. Chief Cravens and his staff did a greatjob in administrating the hiring process. As a result, we have been fortunate to have some exceptionalcandidates that I know will be excellent firefighters to serve our community.”“It’s always an exciting time when new people join the department. Our department holds each member to the higheststandard of these values to meet the goal of Mayor Broderick's administration,” Chief Cravens said.The new hires are Landin Henson, 31, Tyron Fedrick, 25, Mackenzie Hart, 26, Tanner Williams, 25, AaronOakley, 29, Cory Ritter, 25, Tyler Long, 27, Shawn Branch, 21 and Cody Riddle, 28.
