New Equipment Coming to Horne Park
ANDERSON – IN – Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. has announced that major improvements are coming to Horne Park located on the southwest corner of 7th and John Streets in the City of Anderson. The Board of Public Works will be setting a date to accept quotes for the project at the April 24, 2018 Board of Works regular meeting. The funding is being provided by City of Anderson, Community Development Department from Community Block Grant Funds, according to Mayor Broderick.
Mayor Broderick explained that his Community Development Director, Lelia Kelley is working with the Anderson Parks maintenance superintendent, Tom Tacket on the project.
The new improvements will include a new shelter house, a picnic table, a 3-bay swing, a grill, a typhoon slide, a bumblebee spring rider and park benches. The new equipment will serve all age groups with areas specifically designed for children ages below 5-years-old and for ages five and above.
Mayor Broderick said, “This is a continuing effort on the part of the city to upgrade our parks in order to provide quality of place for our citizens. We have been engaged with ongoing improvements in our parks over the last 2 years, including upgrades to Belmont, Walnut, Streety, Geater, Shadyside, Pulaski, and Jackson Parks. We intend to announce more upgrades over the next few weeks. This is a good example of how Community Block Grant Funds can be used to improve our community without expending local tax dollars.”
