Chief Watters joined the Anderson Police Department on February 21, 1989. After being hired, Chief Watters was assigned to uniform patrol, mainly on midnight shift. He was promoted to a detective in 1995 where he has since been recognized as an outstanding investigator having participated and solved many of Anderson's biggest crimes. Chief Watters was promoted to Major in 2008 where he took over as Chief Financial Officer for the department.
Tony Watters was sworn in as Anderson's 30th Chief of Police on January 1st, 2016. As Chief of Police, he is responsible for all of the operations of the Anderson Police Department, Anderson Parking Authority and Animal Control. He is the top law enforcement official in the city and oversees management of emergencies and day to day operations.
